Day 1. Arrive Launceston

Be met on arrival in Launceston by your APT Walking Leader. Transfer to your hotel and settle in before enjoying a Welcome Drink and briefing, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet your fellow walkers. Accommodation: The Sebel Launceston

Day 2. Bay of Fires

This morning, travel to Eddystone Point on the Bay of Fires. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the famous lighthouse overlooking the azure waters. Here you’ll set off on your first walk along the white sand of the bay named for the flaming-orange coloured boulders that line its shores. Arrive at the Bay of Fires Lodge and enjoy time to relax and indulge in the lodge’s spa and outdoor hot tubs before a ‘long table’ dinner featuring local wine and produce this evening.

Day 3. Bay of Fires

Today after a leisurely breakfast, you have a choice to set off on a walking or kayaking exploration of the area. By kayak, paddle along the winding Ansons River, known for its abundant birdlife, enjoy a picnic lunch and finish with a stroll over the dunes of the Abbotsbury Peninsula, returning back to the lodge. This evening, after another gourmet dinner, take the opportunity to look out for the area’s nocturnal wildlife including wombats, wallabies and even the elusive Tasmanian devil.

Day 4. Bay of Fires to Launceston

After breakfast, perhaps take a stroll along the beach keeping an eye out for dolphins and whales before setting off on a picturesque walk through calming eucalypt forest and coastal heathland, enjoying a picnic lunch in the beautiful natural surrounds. After returning to the lodge, travel by coach to Quamby Estate, a luxury country-house hotel just outside of Launceston. Perhaps enjoy a luxurious bath in your deluxe room before a special, chef-prepared dinner in the homestead’s grand but relaxed dining room.

Day 5. Launceston to Lake St Clair

Today, travel across the central highlands to Lake St Clair, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage area that covers Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Stop along the way at the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company and wander the gardens that provide the ingredients for the products that you can sample. Also stop to see The Wall in the Wilderness art project at Derwent Bridge, before arriving at Lake St Clair Lodge, one of only two resorts in the world situated within a Wilderness World Heritage area. Here you’ll enjoy a two-night stay in eco-friendly luxury surrounded by pristine natural beauty. Accommodation: Two nights, Lake St Clair Lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6. Lake St Clair, Ferry & Walk

This morning, set off for Cynthia Bay at the southern end of Lake St Clair where you’ll board the lodge’s ferry for a scenic cruise followed by a walk through the rainforest that surrounds the lake. The walk, of around four-hours is of medium grading with some steep descents and steps. Return to the lodge, for time to relax and enjoy the tranquil surrounds before dinner.

Day 7. Lake St Clair to Hobart

Bid farewell to the wilderness today and travel to Tasmania’s capital Hobart. Set off on a walking tour where you’ll learn about Hobart’s convict past, then check in for a two-night-stay at the acclaimed Henry Jones Art Hotel overlooking the waterfront. Accommodation: Two nights, Henry Jones Art Hotel Meals: Breakfast

Day 8. Hobart Mona

Today head off for the fascinating Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) enjoying the ferry ride over in the exclusive 'Posh Pit', which includes drinks and canapés. Enjoy time to wander Mona’s eclectically bedecked halls and galleries. Discuss the art experience over a Farewell Lunch at The Source restaurant, which is part of Moorilla Winery, located on the same site as Mona. Return to Hobart this afternoon and enjoy the evening at leisure. Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 9. Depart Hobart

This morning after breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Meals: Breakfast
